I look at you sleeping on the couch, curled up next to your phone and I wonder how we got here.
It seems like just yesterday you were dragging that three foot alligator around with its cat collar and leash while trying to sell your sister. I remember how you defiantly threw your hands on your hips and looked that elderly woman square in the face and called her a liar when after telling you she would love to take your baby sister home, in your words, backed out of the deal.
Don’t get me wrong, you are an excellent kid….er, adult. Although for the rest of this post I think I shall refer to you as a legal voter because for whatever reason that doesn’t seem as old. (I know, I have no idea why either.)
While I wonder how it all zoomed by so fast, I don’t feel cheated or slighted. There was a time that I regretted not doing more, but looking at the legal voter you have become; I couldn’t be prouder.
I look at you and know that the world is a better place with you in it. I know that whatever you do in life that you will give your all.
I have to admit when you told me you wanted to pursue your equestrian interests as your full time vocation that I was disappointed. Not because I didn’t think you would be successful; but because I know that you are capable to do anything you put your mind to.
You aren’t after fortune and fame. You know that the profession you have chosen will have you struggling more often than not, but I have confidence in the fact that you will succeed. That’s just what you do.
So my dear legal voter, know that you can accomplish anything you want and that I will be here helping you in anyway that I can; be it buying windshield wipers for your car or lifting you up in prayer. I will always be here, a very proud momma, parenting an adult.
