A flower for my friends

Blooming Beauty
While the last little bit has been hectic & busy for me, it has been a good hectic & busy.
I love this feeling of non overwhelment. I love how freeing it is not to be bogged down
with so much negative emotion. I am usually an optimist, but when things get all out
of whack not only do I see the glass half empty, I thirst. I know that the contents of the
glass will soon be gone and so I don’t savor what is left, I just don’t drink. I go thirsty, a thirst
that goes down to my core. I get to the point where I am so emotionally dehydrated that
I am just beyond myself. I need to remember in this life that if I don’t keep myself
emotionally hydrated that I will not see the silver lining and that I will not see the sunshine
and the rainbows. I need to see these things. I need the happiness that the world around
me brings. I need to realize that I am never alone and that no matter how bad it gets here
that in the next life there will be peace, sunshine, rainbows, and maybe even unicorns.
Thank you so much for showing me such love.

Wordless Wednesday: The Flying Edition

flying high

My brother in law, Nick, landing his hang glider this past weekend in Columbus.
It was both scary and exciting watching him fly around in the sky several times.

I am writing over here now, check it out if you want to get some local flavor!

The Yanni Post: Two weeks 6 Days later edition

I know, I know I really should have written this post sooner. Can I say that the show was just so incredibly awesome that it has taken me nearly three weeks to recover?

What? That isn’t a really good excuse? Damn, I really thought I was on to something.
As you may, or may not, recall some of my good friends were giving away tickets to see Yanni Voices in Dayton, Ohio.  Now Dayton isn’t really close, but put together getting together with some of your bloggity friends and seeing a couple of hunka hunka burning loves Yanni on stage, I was will to drive the three hours there.
But, there was a catch; I had to win the tickets. That & I had an appointment for that evening, which I would have totally missed to see the hawtnessYanni.  I decided to google Yanni voices….Get your head outta the gutter, it wasn’t that kind of Googling! And saw that they were coming to the Wolfstein Center in Cleveland.  Wasn’t anyone giving out tickets here?
I messaged my pal and asked her if she knew of anyone giving out tickets in to the Cleveland show, she said that Arianne could probably hook me up with someone.  And let me tell you, Arianne did just that.  She on behalf of One2One networks (the same fab people that co-hosted Blissdom) offered me two tickets to the show with two meet and greet passes.  I was over the moon excited!
Fast forward to that evening-my gal pal, Diane, picked me up and after dropping the Chicken off at my mom’s house, we headed out.  We chatted the whole way there, which was great because we had a bit of catching up to do.  When we arrived and found where to pick up our tickets we were escorted to the Floor Section.  And then down to our seats, which happened to be SIX rows away from my Latin Loves the stage.
The show was incredible.  The lights, the effects (and I will tell you I wasn’t expecting visual effects at a Yanni concert, just sayin), and the voices….Oh, the voices.  They all sang so wonderfully.  Add instrumentalists, I had chills!  This show was well worth the trip downtown.  I couldn’t believe the chorography, not just with the singers, but with some of the instrumentalists as well.  It was simply AMAZING!
There was a bit of a mix-up after the show. We were told that the meet n’ greet was before the show, but because we were trying to get a security guard to take a photo of us, a suited gentleman came over (and I seriously thought we were going to get in trouble for messing with the security guard) and told us they were waiting for us over there. He motioned to an area with close to 20 people waiting.  I noticed after he talked into his wrist that he “had them” that he was just talking with us.  Someone else came out with a walkie talkie and said I’ll take these two and come back for the rest.  Diane & I totally thought they were talking about someone else, when they came back for us and asked us if we were ready for our meet n’ greet.
We were lead down a maze of hallways, finally coming to the room with the meet n’ greet.  The EXCLUSIVE meet n’ greet.  Diane took one look at me and asked again how I got these tickets. Here we are below with the talent & voices of Yanni Voices.  It was a blast! Thanks for hosting us One2One, I will gladly do it again for you!

Father’s Day Room 704 Style

Last week I received an email from the awesome ladies of Room 704 trying to spread the love around on Father’s Day for Mike of The Spohr’s are Multiplying, on this his first Father’s Day without his precious Maddie. When I read it I knew that this would be something awesome to post here on my blog. So read on and then head on over to their place where there is an awesome amount of internet love going out to Mike this father’s day. And to all you Fathers out there, Have a Rockin’ Father’s Day!

Sometimes, the best we can do is share a person’s experience and let them know we have their back. That while we may not how they feel, we recognize that there are days that are just going to suck beyond the telling of it.

So today we celebrate firsts. Just a very few of Maddie’s firsts from the Spohr family flickr photostream:

Sixteen things

Is it just me or did you start singing Sixteen Candles when you saw my title.
Okay, fine…it was just me.  But I am sure you got it stuck in your head.  If not click here.  HA!
I got this meme from Greis (pronounced Grace for all those who don’t know her.  And speaking of not knowing her, how come you don’t she is da bomb and you should head over there now and get to know this sweet gal) Since I have a new goal of NaMaBlog or whatev it is called for the month of June-I really needed to get myself going for the first day.  And if for the first week or so I just do meme’s don’t think ill of me,
I just need to find my muse and sometimes it happens to be in memes.
This particular meme has to do with Sixteen things that I could not live without this summer. Without further ado…here it goes.
1.The AC in my van.  I love that it has different temps for the front & back or I would freeze.
2. The Sun-boy do I miss this guy in the winter. I soak it up all summer long.
3. Sundresses.  I love keeping cool while wearing a sun dress.  Now that I have lost some weight I am hoping that my thighs won’t stick together quiet as much.
4. My new camera bag/purse.  It rocks and looks like a purse but protects my camera & gear
5. The local pool-the girls go there with groups of friends. I enjoy the quiet of my house…ahhhh!
6.ice cream for dinner.  We sometimes walk up to the local stand and I let them get whatever.  Hush, you know you do it too…or wish you had thought of it.
7. The week of July 19th. We go to St.Louis on vaca to see some of our bestest friends and then I travel up to Chicago to meet up with some more wonderful peeps of mine. Sadly I have to leave on Friday.
8. My Malindis. they are awesome! I can’t believe I scoffed at Crocs for so long. I live in these things and I need more colors.  Lots more colors!
9. Trips to Put in Bay.  It is always nice to go out to the family’s cottage.  With us being right on the lake and the wonderful breeze, it is da bomb.
10. My lotion with spf in it.  I would forget to put on sunscreen.  So thankfully Vaseline has a lotion that has SPF 15 in it.  Its not much, but its something.
11. Boots tinted moisturizer with SPF 15 in it.  I love this. It is light and I don’t need no stinking foundation.
12. Aveeno anti itch cream.  It doesn’t smell bad and it really helps with all those bug bites I get.
13. Super B complex.  It helps with repelling bugs, well mosquitoes at least. My MIL turned us on to it a few years ago while camping and I seem to have less bites.
14. Skin so Soft by Avon.  I love that it repells the bugs all while making you smell nice.  They also have an unscented version if you need it.
15. cooking out.  I love my grill and use it year round,
but when I don’t have to shovel a pathway to it, all the better.
16. Finally our master bedroom-its in the finished basement so it is so much cooler down there. On really hot days I live down there because it is so pleasant.
So what are your Sixteen things that you couldn’t live without this summer.
If you decide to do this meme please let me know if the comments and I will check it out!
