Sick….ugh

I want to wish you all a very Merry Belated Christmas and a Fabulous 2008!!!!

Our Christmas was great, in addition to all my wonderful gifts my dad and stepmom shared their icky cold with us.  So I have been sick for the past couple of days with no voice and I have been very lightheaded, so blogging isn’t much fun as I have a hard time spelling even the simpliest words (I know that something is spelled wrong somewhere in there)  I would like to say that I have spent my days spinning and knitting, but I would be lying.  I have knit some here and there, but not much.  Today I decided while I was watching the CSI marathon on Spike TV that I would knit some more on my lace wrap.  Well, thankfully I left off on a purl row and after I did that row I was a bit exhausted.  UGh,  getting exhausted while purling 93 stitches, there has to be some law against that.  I will try again in a bit.   I have photos to share, but I am going to wait to upload them.
One big happy thing that I found checking my inbox was that I won a contest (will link to it next post) and I got my Raverly invite….woohooo!! Now I get to see what all the fuss is about.
Alright I need to go, I have corrected too many typo’s and I am getting dizzy looking at the screen.  I am sure I won’t make it til midnight, so somebody blow a nosemaker and have a drink for me :O)

I know I said I was tired….but….

oh nevermind….it didn’t work and I am too tired to try again!

Still no knitting content

I am so tired.  I think I am going to climb into bed and not wake up until Sunday.  I probably can’t do that, can I?  Well, we suceeded on getting a new van…woohoo!  I think her name is Sally, but I can’t be sure.  She is a shy gal and I just need to get to know her a bit better I think.

What I do know is that God is just so Awesome!  I mean, I knew it….but dang!  When I was in Choir practice the other night telling the story of the break down and the theft and everything else it was a praise…..still is.  But isn’t it great how God can turn things around.
Well I am off to put my feet up.  Photos and hopefully knitting content tomorrow.

Mmmmm……CAKE!

Chocolate cake at that.  Don’t you just love that fresh baked cake smell wafting through out your house?  Giggles has to decorate a cake tonight for a Lang. Arts project, so I baked a cake first thing this morning.  Silly girl and her friends thought that they could bake a cake, let it cool enough to frost it and really decorate it nicely in about a 2.5 hr time period after school today.  I convinced her that I indeed could bake the cake

“But Mom….so and so is allergic to nuts”  ”Okay Giggles I will make sure that I don’t use the stoneware pans and I don’t have anything nut related out and I will wash everything down”  ”But you don’t understand Mom, he’s really allergic”
Just an section of my convincing her.  I mean, I have been baking how long and she has just started….I think I have a way better chance of not killing said boy than her.  So the cake is done, its cooling, its chocolatey smell is perutating my home as we speak….but, yet…….
I have to leave! UGH! I guess there will be no temptation to eat the cake if I am out dealing with car stuff again today.  I have to go and meet up with FIL, see a van, take the new Rio back to the dealer so that they can put new roters on it (free of charge) get the loaner from said dealer.  Come get Giggles, get The Chicken.  Fix dinner somewhere in there and go to a Christmas Concert.
*whew* I think I am exhausted reading all of that.  Now, mind you also there is no knitting mentioned anywhere in there.  *pout pout*  Hopefully after the girls are in bed and hubby is watching the DVR.

One car down, one to go!!

First I want to say thanks to Knitterella for leaving me my first comment ever! woohoo! I am so excited! And yes, poor Mr.Blue (this is just a photo of Mr. Blue, not the actual one) is really gone.  We had to fill out a police report and they tried to hand search the system as well to make sure he wasn’t mistagged or anything.  We were able to pick dh up a car yesterday.  He is yet unnamed.  I don’t know if I should really name him as I am not going to be his regular driver.  But I am sure if you all have any suggestions we would love to hear them.  We could even make a little contest of it.  If you want to suggest a name for our new friend you can leave a comment.  Dh and I will go over each of them and if we pick yours I will send you a little somethin’ somethin’.

Tomorrow morning FIL and I are going about 30 miles from here to look at a van for me.  After dh drove Scooter for 2 days he decided that She is teetering on the edge of being safe.  I am so excited to be able to do this.  Which reminds me of what I read this morning in my devotional.
“So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God.  I will strengthen you and help you;  I will uphold you with my righteous right hand” Isaiah 41:10
How awesome is that.  I know that God will provide and that He is with me.  But, WOW!   I just thank God that he provides even when you are unsure what is happening.
No knitting today.  Today I dealt with the new car, getting it checked out and stuff.  Also dealing with insurance about Mr. Blue.  Giggles has a concert this week and we need to get her a white dress shirt to go with her black dress pants (that she never wears) and then go to church.  After I get home I am scanning about 100 photos for a client.  Hopefully I will get to knit tomorrow.
Children fighting upstairs…..probably over the remote……looking forward to Christmas vacation already :P

Off on the car buying adventure

While shopping for the car I am going to be working on this as a gift for Christmas.  I don’t know if it will be felted in time, but hopefully I can finish it up today.  I am making it out of navy and some really nice homespun I dyed myself last year.  I already have a lime and pink  tote that my giftee has admired, I hope she likes hers.  I think she will.

Dh is off work today. I think it will be a full day of shopping, he has a plan. *sigh* His plans sometimes overwhelm me.  He is a very organized left brain person……I am not.   I am as far from his left brain as I could possibly be.
Oh and if you have seen Mr.Blue our 2003 Kia Rio in the colorway of Blueberry.  Please send him home.  He has been MIA for nearly a week.  Ugh, who would steal a broken down car on the side of the highway is beyond me!
Well, must get The Chicken off to school.  Hopefully the next post will actually have knitting content!!

Today didn’t start like this

Last night as dh and I settled down on the couch to watch some shows he had recorded on the DVR we talked of how church might be cancelled this morning as the pending “blizzard like” conditions were on their way.  It had already begun to snow and The Chicken was upset that her play may be cancelled this morning.  To my surprise when I woke up hubby said the road were clear, it was just raining a bit and I should go into church and have no problems.  (The reason I would have problems is if it was snowing and Scooter our one and only car who is 16 years old and having some issues responded badly to the snow)  The rain had washed the roads clear and it was getting almost warm out.

When church let out we were told to be careful on the ride home, they wanted us to be able to come and worship with them next week.  I thought to myself “What kind of send off is this?”  A few moments later when I looked outside I couldn’t even see poor Scooter in the 3rd row of the parking lot.  ACK! What was I to do.   I contemplated asking some friends for a ride home because I was scared of this snow and how Scooter would react, but then I got to thinking that if I didn’t take Scooter home I would have to figure out how to get her tomorrow.
It took us nearly 25 minutes to drive what normally takes us about 7, but we made it.  After I let the white monster outside I grabbed my camera to take a couple of pics. ( But I need to master or  to even learn how to post the pics to my blog.  But since this is a first blog attempt I guess I have a learning curve? Right?) The snow was unbelievable, and the visibility was near zero.  Poor Scooter was nearly covered.
So, resigned to the fact that I was most assuredly NOT going to wrap up some shopping today I sat down with a book and my knitting and watched the Browns win against the Bills! WOOHOO!! I am so excited.  Glad I watched the Brownies win again! This season has been great!  The girls were excited too, as they got to sit and play on the computer for a few hours.
I did get quite a few rows done on the Autumn Lace Throw that I am turning into a wrap.  I think if it keeps snowing like this I should be done tomorrow.  Which is a good thing because I still have Christmas gifts to finish and I would like to finish myself another pair of socks.  I am wearing a pair of socks that I knit right now and am loving how warm they keep my feet.  I need more, and since Giggles doesn’t like knitting while following a pattern I guess it is up to me to keep my own feet warm.
Well, I need to do some domestic things like make dinner, do some more Christmas cookies and laundry. FUN! Until next time…..
